Color keys are included in the pattern packet. Included in each MagicStrip Pattern Packet is a color key which lists the suggested color, type, and amount of stained glass needed. About Opalescent Lampshade Glass Most of the lamp designs available using the WordenSystem are composite reproductions of antique shades made around the turn of the century. The majority of these old shades were made from dense opal and other types of opalescent stained glass. Small amounts of cathedral glass were used for highlighting, borders, etc. Opal Stained Glass It is available in a large selection of color combinations using a mix of white and other color or colors to give it a marbleized appearance. All opals show color in reflected light. Other types of opalescent stained glass Hand rolled mottled and full ring mottled opalescent glass have areas of other colors or intensities appearing in small irregular rings like islands of lighter color in a sea of darker or more intense color. The color variations create the illusion of depth and add character to a lamp shade allowing the picking of colors for a dramatic effect. Full ring mottled opalescent stained glass, and stippled stained glass are available today which is similar to the stained glass used in the original antique Tiffany lamps. Cathedral Glass for Highlights Cathedral stained glass This type of glass is translucent, which means the light source can be seen through it. Any cathedral stained glass in a lamp hung near a window will show transmitted light color like a stained glass window.
